Howie D. from Hard Edge Radio caught up with guitarist Hiran Deraniyagala as they finished up a short headline tour before stopping at home for Dirt Fest. They talked about a few different topics including, the crazy last few years since signing with Metal Blade Records, getting to head over to Europe for both a big name tour and some well known European festivals, playing the main stage at the 2014 Dirt Fest and how much they truly appreciate the support from fans and peers.
Battlecross has been going non-stop since things started to blow up for them just about two years ago. 2012’s Trespass America tour, 2013’s Orion Fest and Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem Festival and tours with Killswitch Engage, Hatebreed and Death Angel are on their resume of standout achievements for this band in their short time in the national spotlight.
The immediate future shows no signs of letting up either as they get ready to head to South America with Killswitch Engage, take some time to work on new material and then do some US dates as part of Machine Heads US Tour. It’s this work ethic of consistent touring and focusing on the band that tells me Battlecross is going to be around for the long haul and continue to expand their fan base. These guys are really earning that “Blue Collar Trash Metal” title.
