Maybe I felt inclined to listen to Tides From Nebula’s new album Eternal Movement because they’re Polish. Maybe it was because the album cover reminds me of college (not entirely sure why, to be honest). Or maybe it’s simply because the band is, in a sense, totally awesome. Either way, I’m certainly glad I did, because the groups 3rd album does NOT disappoint.
Think The Ocean meets Russian Circles with a sprinkle of Jerry Garcia (and of course a few puffs of the old ganja), and you’ll be pretty dead on with how External Movement sounds. It’s light and airy, kind of like the best lemon meringue pie you’ve ever had, complete with a heavy, well-compacted graham cracker crust to round out its composition. Okay, okay, I’m a little hungry…don’t judge me.
I suppose it’s safe to call these guys “instru-metal”, although I don’t think it does the band’s sound a terrible amount of justice since you can say the same about Cloudkicker, whose appeal I just cannot comprehend. So at the end of the day, no matter what category you want to throw Tides Of Nebula into, it won’t change the fact that they’re an immensely talented group of dudes who are well worth the listen. Below is the first track off of the aforementioned album, which came out in North America on November 5th via Longbranch records.
